Goodbye, Scrolling

The other day, one of my sons suggested that I put a “jump to recipe” button on my posts. As this is a tool that I myself use on other sites, I thought that it was a pretty good idea and something I needed to learn how to do. But then….

It seems like so many shifts in my thinking start with “but then…” This time the trigger was me being on another site, in a time crunch (big surprise there), frantically looking for the “jump to recipe” button. It was one of those silly things where I already knew the ingredients and cooking method but was trying to figure out how long to set my Instant Pot for. And I was frustrated and in a hurry.

Hence, I have decided for the time being to put the recipes first. Why? Because you might be in a hurry too. You might be trying to make it out the door for a ball game or standing in the grocery store checking to see that you are buying the right kind of GF flour. And whatever you’re doing, I figure that you probably don’t want to scroll through all my thoughts about what makes a recipe wonderful or how I developed it based on some distant childhood memory.

You just want to know what goes into a particular dish. And I respect that.

Now, I know that there are valid reasons – many of which I am unaware – to put the recipe at the end and keep you scrolling, scrolling, scrolling. And there may come a point in the future when I have to put the recipes farther down in the post. But for now, I am going to put the recipes first and make it easier for you, the reader, to find them.

You will still be able to read my helpful hints and cooking instructions after the ingredients are listed. And you may want to bear in mind that if I took the time to post it, that those little tidbits could potentially affect how the recipe turns out. So if you choose to check the ingredients and dive in without reading further, well, that’s up to you.

What it all boils down to, is that if I can make this easier for people who visit my page, why not? Here’s to simplicity, y’all! Happy cooking!
